2013
I founded SignatureCakes & Events By Dadi in Zimbabwe in 2013, starting as a self-taught baker while balancing motherhood. What began as baking for friends grew into a business, becoming my main income during unemployment (2014–2019) and supporting my family.
2019
While my business had grown steadily, the COVID-19 pandemic slowed things down, making it difficult to maintain steady orders. However, I remained committed, using the time to refine my skills and experiment with new cake designs.
2023
Starting over in a new country was not easy, but word-of-mouth recommendations from my US clients helped sustain my business. I continued baking fruitcakes, which became my signature product, and expanded my offerings by making Christmas cakes for both US and Canadian customers.
2024
In 2024, I rebranded from Cathie’s Cake Delights to Makeke Délices to align with my vision. Now, in 2025, I’m focused on building a strong online presence, making ordering easier, and establishing Makeke Délices as the go-to for cakes and pastries.
